Your Mission:
Differences between countries, be it because of systems of government, religion, economics, and any elements of culture can cause conflicts in the international community. To prevent this from occurring, these differences must be discovered and learned about, and a plan must be put in place to implement this knowledge in order to ensure peace remains. Living in America you understand life in this country, have been immersed in its culture, and have been educated in its system of governance. It is time to examine how other nations differ from the United States.
President Obama wants each member of your team to select one of the following three nations where diplomatic relations are tense with the United States. Those countries are 1. Cuba, 2. Iran, and 3. North Korea. You are to study the nation you select and learn as much about it as possible. You are to research a brief history of the country, orient yourself to its geography, and find out as much about their system of government, economy, customs, and cultural traditions of the citizens as you can.
Upon completion of your studies, you are to reunite with your team members and create either a PowerPoint presentation for the President, or upload a podcast for him containing:
conflict;
3. A hypothesis of what our nation can do in response to ensure peace is
maintained between the two countries.
Your individual section of the PowerPoint presentation, or podcast must be between five to ten minutes in length. Therefore as a three person team, your presentation will be at least fifteen minutes long, but no more than thirty minutes total.
